Don’t know directly about the two you mention but the Denafrips Pontus II is clearly better than the DAC1 module in my MA8900. Was it worth the ~2k for the unit, interconnects and power cord? To me yes, better soundstage, imaging and dynamics. I also added a Denafrips Hermes DDC that was worth the expense as well as it took all the improvements of the Pontus and made them better particularly the noise floor which made all the other improvements that much more evident.
