Mccormack LD-2 info

please tell me about this preamp.  the good, the bad, and the ugly.

any issues with the lcd front display going dim? light fluttering, going out on volume display??  am concerned about this.

also its sound, charactertictics, is it tube sounding, or just a straight wire w gain? i would like to think this would have its own sound, as it was designed by a genius, and built by one of the best companies out there.
