Matrix Element M2 or Topping DX9 + WiiM Pro

I'm wanting a headphone amp with DAC, preferably one that can fill in as a preamp occasionally. The Topping has been well received, but I have quality-control concerns, and it needs an external streamer. The Matrix has few reviews, but I was happy with a smaller Matrix unit years ago, and because it's all in one box, Roon then can control volume, which is nice.

AK4499EQ vs ES3028Pro - but of course the chip isn't everything.

Thoughts? Experiences?
