master clock with single-box player

Has anyone tried this? I know the benefits are well documented with a transport / DAC combination.

I have a dCS P8i which accepts a word clock input, and can't help but wonder. Seems like an external clock could improve things if it's specs were 'better' than the internal clock in the P8i.

Interested in actual experiences, not theory so much....

No Vsfang, at least not intentionally. Although everyone's words may unintentionally mislead some of the times. Let me know if you are concerned about any of my statements above, and I'll do my best to clarify. If I were having 'fun' with words, I'd be signing my post as Aloysius, or at least I'd be involving the fictitious writings of the equally fictitious Aloysius Qwantz Schmaltzenstein-Gavronsky. Guido
That makes perfect sense as in a one box CDP everything is right there and optimized versus a Transport/DAC setup.
Guidocorona - Thanks for the info. I may end up trying one if I see it in a shop, but probably won't expend the effort to track one down for an audition. Looks like a review at 6 moons found the external clock to be unnecessary in a situation similar to the one you describe. The best part - more money for music!!
Guidocorona, can you elaborate on the differences you heard with the P03/D03 combo the G0 master clock regenerator?
I have not played with an external clock on dCS P8i, but I have auditioned at least 2 TEAC Esoteric X-01 Limited players with TEAC G0s clocks being activated and deactivated during the performance. . . I could never tell the difference. . . I could not even delude myself in hearing a subtle difference. On a TEAC DXP03/D03 combo instead. . . very very big difference.
