Think about all the mis-matches:
Singer Sewing Machine bought KLH and trashed it; Teledyne bought Acoustic Research and trashed it; Tyco bought Dynaco and trashed; Emerson Electric bought Fisher Radio and then sold it to Sanyo who trashed Fisher's reputation. H. H. Scott was sold to its European distributors and then to Emerson Radio (different from Emerson Electric) and made crap lo-fi equipment until it disappeared.
Moral: Big business and the hi-fi business do not mix. We've lost a lot of great companies thanks to companies such as Masimo (and, so far as I'm concerned, Samsung buying Harman.).
