Marantz TT-15S1 Contradicting Setup Instructions

Hoping the resident turntable experts can help explain this one to me. I’m no expert, but I have done a fair amount of research and reading to learn about turntable setup. I think I have a reasonable understanding of how things work. I have a Marantz TT-15S1 turntable made by Clearaudio. It uses the Clearaudio Satisfy tone arm and came with the Clearaudio Virtuoso Wood MM cartridge.
In the setup instructions, it says if using the INCLUDED cartridge, “attach to the front attachment hole position on the tone arm”. In other words, position the cartridge at the outer end of the head shell. But - “when using a DIFFERENT cartridge, attach the cartridge so that it is 32mm from the stylus tip” as measured from the point where the head shell connects to the tone arm.

If I follow the first set of instructions (since I am using the included Clearaudio cartridge) the stylus tip is not at 32mm. This didn’t make sense to me, so I asked Marantz and they told me, yes, if using the included Clearaudio cartridge, the stylus will not be at 32mm. How can that be? Am I missing something, or are Marantz’s setup instructions just wrong? Isn’t the cartridge overhang the overhang regardless of cartridge? In the end, I ignored the first set of instructions and positioned the cartridge using a Baerwald alignment protractor. The stylus tip ended up being right about 32mm from the end of the tone arm as described in the second set of instructions, contrary to what Marantz said. So who’s right?
