Magnepan 1.7i Wavy, Wrinkled Mylar Diaphragm/Aluminum Ribbon

I recently purchased a brand new pair of Magnepan 1.7i speakers in off-white/dark cherry.  The other night, while listening, the lamp in the room cast a light on the speakers that enabled me to see through the fabric and visualize the mylar diaphragm and aluminum ribbons underneath.  I noticed a significant amount of wrinkles, or waves, in the mylar/ribbons extending about 3 - 4" above and below each of the 3 discs.  These wavy zones are about 3" wide.  The rest of the panels are completely flat.  I don't hear any buzzing or rattling.  Has anyone else seen this?  Is it a problem or is it normal?  Feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I had this on a pair I bought used. They would buzz on very low bass. I took the socks off and put a couple layers of high quality packing tape on the defect which was about 6 inches long. They have been fine for at least 5 years now.

If they are brand new from a dealer, I would contact the dealer and or Magnepan.
