I'm considering the MA5300 to replace my HK3490 Receiver. I have a audio cabinet that has an 18 inch width and a 25 inch depth. The height is adjustable Does this amp run hot ? Is there enough clearance to allow necessary air flow around the amp?
Page 6 from the MA5300 integrated Owners Manual suggests: "Allow at least 6 inches (15.24cm) above the top, 2 inches (5.08cm) below the bottom and 2 inches (5.1cm) on each side of the Integrated Amplifier, so that air- flow is not obstructed."
The backs on the cabinet are removed. The heat sinks on the Mac5300 are at the sides and there will be 1/2 inch of clearance on each side. I have read that the MA5300 runs pretty cool, unlike the Musical fidelity 5si and 6si. These are others I have considered.
Any amp in a cabinet is going to run hotter than one out in open air. I have been known to take the backs off and leave the doors open when amps are placed in that type of furniture.
