"The scary part is so many are so dumb and gullible they fall for it."No matter how hard we try, millercarbon always comes back talking about PPT.
He even hijacks his own weather thread.
"On the next high tide, let’s send millercarbon to camp out in the middle of St Mark’s Square, Venice."These days you could almost camp out in the middle of the canals in Venice. They are dry. At the same time, there was some major flooding in Dubai. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-51098129 https://www.thenational.ae/uae/environment/dubai-tenants-face-major-clean-up-operation-as-floods-str... |
"How much? As much as volcanoes? No not even close. As much as plants? No not even close. Skipping on down the list we find that of all the sources of CO2 human beings just aren’t a significant factor."It seems that one drop can never spill over the glass. It also seems that humans do not have priorities straightened out yet. First plug the volcanoes, then kill the plants, and when you fix everything on the list that was before humans’ impact, it may be time to deal with what was easier to deal with before plugging those volcanoes. Good approach. |
mahgister, for me death is only a word and the transformation of a little speck of matter called " my body"...Have you ever considered the possibilty that the truth is there is no other transformation but physical decay? (assuming no cremation) |
mahgister, "No one is homeless :)"Many of those riding on a public transport to shield themselves from the freezing weather in the northern hemisphere these days would disagree. The body is surely a temporary creation. After that, it is lettuce and air those who still posses the regular body breathe. There may be mathematics somewhere in there, but in the end it is a "game over" with a losing score. |
mahgister, Nothing to apologize for. I really do understand the hopeful view many, if not most, have regarding afterlife. It is just that person may become homeless if there is no body to reside in. It seems to me that those who deal with death often do not have poetic views of it and they shrug their shoulders at philosophical approach to something so mundane. Just ask any cemetery worker. |
mahgister, Don't worry, my world will continue being as shaky as always. I understand the theories and hopes of eternity and I even encourage people to pursue that highway of thoughts, but in reality a dead person gets wheeled out and disposed of. I do not argue most of the people do continue their existence as disjointed chemical elements and may show up in our vehicles, plates, and what not, but they are not exactly what they were in any sense of that thought. May I guess that you deal with death/transitioning to something only in your thoughts? |
mahgister, "...the absolute disappearance of anything, makes absolutely no sense at all..."It may not make sense in this current world we inhabit. Lavoisier and his thoughts. It also may seem scary at times. It does not mean it does not happen. Of course, you could say that decomposing into some carbon (here we go again), oxygen, potassium, and whatever else, means there is no absolute disappearance and you would be right. However, for any meaningful purpose, once a person dies, she/he is dead. Gone. Most of the time wheeled out. Sorry to break you that news. |
In the last 20 years we have had 2 Presdents elected with a minority of votes, in the previous 200+ years that only happened 2 times and 1 time the house decided. Is that also because of global warming, or global warming is because of that? It must be somehow connected, no way it isn't. Can someone elaborate? |
"Look no further than the State of California. Here’s how the state is run: The public employee unions donate heavily to the coffers of Democrat politicians. Once elected, the politicians do the bidding of the unions. On the side, they try to run the state. In reality, they have run the state into the ground. The unfunded liabilities of the State of Californa stands at over a trillion dollars ... mostly unfunded public employee retirement pensions. Ridiculous promises made by the unions and supported by the politicians ... with the taxpayers eventually on the hook."So, why exactly does anyone who figured it out live in California? Double the question if it that anyone decided to retire in California. |
"I followed someone’s advice and looked in the mirror. But I didn’t see Jesus." The remedy is easy... https://www.windex.com/en-us/products/original-glass-cleaner |
"One of the pre-requisites for radiologic technologist is microbiology." Not everywhere. https://www.iccms.edu/MajorPDFs/T59.pdf audiogon should hire a full-time fact-checker. I mean, it is fine to volunteer, but what gets thrown out here really needs a full-time dedication. |
