Looking for a new DAC

Looking for dac recommendations

I have been slowly doing major upgrades to my system and now it’s time for a better dac.

Current system

Modwright KWH 225i integrated

Magnepan 3.7i speakers

Rotel RCD-1572 cd player

Will not be upgrading these anytime soon

Need upgrading

Schiit Modius dac

WiiM Ultra streamer (considering the Aurender N200)

Looking for a dac that will complement the Modwright and Magnepans.

Below is a few suggestions I have received but not sure how they will sound with my system.

T+A DAC 200

Gold Note DS-10 EVO

Laiv Harmony

Weiss DAC 204

Bottom line, if you don’t know what you’re aiming for, being presented with many options that sound good to others, in other systems, is not likely to move the ball downfield. You need to listen to various DACs (preferably in your room) to get a better sense of what’s available within your budgetary limits and of those, which you naturally gravitate towards. There is no substitute for this step and none of us can do it for you. This is the simple truth.

I’m happy to provide you with a list of dealers that offer trial periods/return policies.  PM me if interested.

Good luck!

These all offer at least a 30 day return window. Some offer 60.

There are also manufacturers that sell direct with return policies.

Music Direct technically belongs on the list but I had a bad experience with them and am not a fan.
