Looking for a more up-to-date streamer

This is turning into a bit of a saga. I'm now on my third streamer, having started with a Sonnet Hermes to pair with my (former) Sonnet Morpheus DAC. I wasn't particularly enamored of the sound of this combination, so from there moved to an Innuos PulseMini with an upgraded power supply. Again, the combination was not to my liking--it sounded kind of shrill and didn't seem to control the music as well as it might. In the meantime, I changed to a Denafrips Pontus 15th DAC, which solved at least some of these issues, but still unsatisfied, I currently have a (used) Lumin T1. This streamer is a major improvement over my previous ones, but since it's a much older model, there are some things it can't do which would be awfully nice to have available.

Specifically, it can't output via USB, only optical and coax, and it's too old to be able to incorporate Qobuz Connect, which I think would be a better interface than Lumin's own app.

New or used, is there a streamer out there in the $1500 price range that would incorporate these features and sound as good (or even better) than the Lumin? I know my price-range is not as high as I wish it were. If I could afford to spend multi-thousands on this, there'd be many worthy choices, obviously.

One thing I really don't need is a streamer with a sophisticated DAC, as I'm perfectly happy with the DAC I have. I've noticed that most streamers available today have built-in DACs (for better or worse) and a lot of them also act as pre-amps. These are features I don't really need.

Advice and opinions gratefully received. Thanks!

Since we have some people talkin' streamers here I would like to ask about one & opinions. A friend of my brother who lives out of state has a Hifi-Rose 250A he offered me for $1500. Any thoughts, criticisms, or opinions on this model/price? The OP @cooper52 mentioned the Rose brand as well.

I've probably had a dozen streamers under the $1500 mark & I've gone back to the Zen Stream with Sbooster & a Pontus 15th. When used with an old cell phone I dedicated just for streaming the software has been perfect. Since I have the Pontus I'm not sure I would use the internal DAC on the 250A. Not trying to hijack a thread but any quick answers would be appreciated.

The Cambridge Audio streamers in that range are excellent but you would have to check on the Qobuz Connect

Reading this and some other threads on the subject of streamers/servers, I’m now rethinking my aspiration for a USB output, as there is a body of opinion that this connection is inherently more noisy than some others. I believe, however, it can accommodate higher bitrates than, say, SPDIF. My current streamer (Lumin T1) is connected via RCA coax. It actually sounds pretty good this way, my only other option being toslink (optical), which, to be honest, I haven't actually tried.

In an ideal world, I’d go for I2s via HDMI, but even though my Denafrips DAC has an I2s input, it is, as I said in my previous post, occupied by my CD transport.

I’d be grateful for guidance on this issue. Thanks!

Please take the time to Investigate the TEAC UD-701N, I do believe that this model is to be my first ever Streaming Source when I get around to making a purchase.
