I own the ayre C5xe-mp and at one time considered the Linn Unidisk 1.1 as my dealer sold both. At the time he wanted to make a very good deal in the Unidisk. The Ayre was pre-mp upgrade and I liked bothe. At the time the Linn seemed to bring out more information. I think they are very close in sound and I think there is a flip flop as to which does what better. The Unidisk 1.1 is basically a Akurate with the video added. I really wanted the AKURATE but didn't buy because the Ayre was less money. I didn't buy the Unidisk because the dealer demo had been back and forth to Linn so many times for repairs it qualified for frequent flyer discounts. It scared the heck out of me. So I went with the AYRE and especially with the "mp" upgrade I have never looked back. If you only want 2 channel I would really look at the Ayre. With Linn dropping CD players from their line up the resale and service may be issues in the future.
