Thank you @jond and @carlsbad2 for your recommendation.

LOL..I am not going to venture tube LPS for Optical Bridge. I got the tube magic where it matters the most (phono).
Linear Power Supply Recommendations!
While I realize linear power supplies share the same basic principle—using a transformer to step down voltage, rectification to convert AC to DC, and regulation to maintain a steady output….there are several factors that ultimately differentiate their performance in a specific application.
Did you find one particular LPS performed better than the others? I am looking for a dual output 12V / 3A power supply to power my Telegartner Opt Bridge 1000M.
Ferrum HYPSOS Dual Output with its ‘Sweet Spot Tuning’ has caught my attention. Any users out here that is currently using this LPS?
Thank you @jond and @carlsbad2 for your recommendation. @noromance |
Thank you @trivema, @fthompson251 and @sns ….exactly what I need. LHY, HDPlex and Uptone makes dual outputs LPS. |
Not quite, PS Audio power plant essentially a AC regenerators that create a clean and stable power supply for your audio equipment. Here is the simplified explanation on how PSA power plant works, 1. AC to DC Conversion • The incoming AC power from your wall outlet is first converted into DC (direct current). • This step removes noise and fluctuations present in the incoming AC signal, which can degrade the performance of sensitive audio equipment. 2. DC to AC Regeneration • The Power Plant then regenerates a new, pure AC waveform from the DC power. • This regenerated AC is low in distortion, stable in frequency, and free of noise and voltage fluctuations. • It essentially acts like a high-quality, local power generator for your audio system. 3. Voltage Regulation • The regenerated AC is precisely regulated to maintain a consistent voltage level. • This prevents your equipment from being affected by voltage sags, surges, or other irregularities from the power grid. 4. Additional Benefits • Low Impedance Power Delivery: The Power Plant provides a low-impedance source of power, which helps your connected equipment perform optimally, especially during dynamic peaks. • Protection: It offers surge and over-voltage protection, safeguarding your audio gear from potential damage. By using the PP3 for your preamp, DAC, and streamer, you’re ensuring that these components receive clean, stable power, which can improve sound quality by reducing noise, enhancing dynamics, and improving clarity. A linear power supply with a DC output is a type of power supply that converts AC (alternating current) from the wall outlet into clean and stable DC (direct current) power. This type of power supply is often preferred for sensitive electronics like audio equipment because it provides a low-noise power source. |
Just received LHY (Jay’s Audio) LPS80VA dual output 12V/5A Linear Power Supply. Going to break-in for next 5-6 weeks and then compare with stock wall warts came with my Opti Bridge. If I hear improvements, then I will venture into comparing LHY with other LPS recommendations in the thread. Uptone JS-2 appears to be most versatile LPS with on the fly voltage adjustments and good long term investment. |
JCAT Optimo ATX is a serious piece of gear for a custom server, definitely not your average LPS solution. I used to own Optimo Duo 3, it was paired with Telegartner Gold M12 Ethernet Switch. When I added Telegartner Opti Bridge 1000M in my system, the M12 switch kinda became redundant because Opti Bridge on its own does a fabulous job of not only blocking noise gremlins but also renders much of M12 Gold Switch virtues. I believe in Less is More…so Opti Bridge 1000M (ahead of my streamer) with a good LPS appears to be best way forward. I just ordered a pair of FTA Metis LAN cables to try it out. They will go head to head with Telegartner MFP8 IE GOLD LAN cables. A direct LPS comparison would be interesting, especially between the JS-2 and maybe something like the Paul Hynes SR4/SR7 or Farad Super3. Each has its own design philosophy, from regulation to component selection. And you’re re absolutely right about DC cables. A quality LPS is only as good as the cables feeding the components. The LHY LPS supplied with decent quality DC cables but they are certainly not in same league as Mundorf Silver/Gold wire with Oyaide connectors. I believe Mundorf Silver/Gold wire known to have a pure, detailed, and revealing sound much like my all time favorite - JCAT Signature LAN Cable GOLD cable. Have you experimented with shielded vs. unshielded DC cables? Some setups seem to benefit from shielding, while others sound more open without it. |
