LAIV Harmony

New company with a new product.  There are several "professional" reviews out there, but not much consumer input here or elsewhere.  Those that have been using now for over a month, what are your thoughts?  What were you using previously and how does it compare?

The Harmony DAC came in finally. My old DAC was Holo May KTE.

25 hours in and I prefer it over the Holo May KTE by a tad bit. Interesting to see if Harmony beats the Holo May by a significant margin.

Qoboz>Innous Pulse>Harmony DAC>preamp>amp>speakers

So far prefer the NOS but not a huge difference between OS and NOS mode.

Packaging and remote is the best I’ve seen in an audio component so far...high end brands giving a dollar store type plastic remotes should be ashamed! LOL

Almost a week + 60 hours and counting..

Can safely say it’s at par with Holo May KTE and maybe a tad bit better..

I was worried I will miss my Holo May but I do not..

I am looking forward to their streamer and Class D monos coming out later this year..should be interesting...

:)

@kclone did you find further break in after 100 hours..I am at 80 hours or so and wondering if it can get better after 150+ mark?

Everyone hears different and in their own setup/room

I don't find the Harmony to be bright at all and I'm about 2 months in.

That's the best thing with Laiv. If one is interested, try it for a few weeks and return it if you don't like. Let's see other brands offer 30 days return policies..

I see reviews but they are not the bible. I take a leap of faith and go with my gut. I am glad I did with Harmony DAC. It's slightly better than the Holo May I had before as mentioned in this thread before.

Anyone pre order the Laiv DDC?

I have Harmony DAC fed by Innuos Pulse and I do use a Silent Angel Bonn switch and good quality digital cables.

Question is do I need a DDC? What is a DDC?

I emailed Weng at Laiv. What a straight shooter he is..instead of convincing me that the new DDC is the bomb and I should immediately put my money down on it, he told me that using my Innuos Pulse with a Silent Angel Bonn 8 switch into the Harmony DAC is a pretty good chain.

He also added that by adding the DDC I might hear very subtle improvements but not noticeable.

Wow, impressed with Laiv..not many companies will be so straight with their customers.
