I had one with the cut core transformer. The only reason it was in the ksa-100s, was a shortage of the "torid" for the 100s. I sold it to a friend and it developed a hum traced to the transformer. They replaced it with the Toroidal transformer.
He never commented it sounded better.
Some believe cut core are better and some toroidal.
