I tend to disregard equipment that is more than 10 years old. I have concerns about repairability and parts supply.
Krell HTS 2
I have been looking at upgrading my preamp for some time. It is currently a Parasound New Classic 2100. Other equipment: Parasound Halo A23 which I will probably eventually replace, a Marantz 8006 CD/streamer that has a pretty fair DAC, Focal Aria 926 speakers and a McIntosh SL-1 subwoofer which has not been as musical as I hoped when I bought it used.
In my search, I have narrowed it down to Bryston or Krell. No, I am not interested in getting into tube rolling. I have an opportunity to buy a used Krell HTS 2 fairly cheaply. The model was built around 2001. The unit looks very good and is according to the seller. I will be using it largely for 2 channel sound although I could venture into home theater. Do any of you have any experience with the Krell HTS 2? I prefer something that is detailed but not too bright. I do understand that Krell does not have some replacement parts for this model such as PCB’s. Do you think that presents too much risk?
Thank you for your input!
