Krell CD DSP opinions advise?

DICKENS, I OWNED THE KRELL UNIT YOU ARE CONSIDERING WITH THE ACRYLIC TOP AS YOU DESCRIBE AND DUMPED IT VERY SOON AFTER FOR THETA TRANSPORT AND D/A CONVERTER. UNLESS THAT UNIT'S SOFTWARE FOR THE D/A IS UPDATED, YOU WILL DO BETTER WITH SOMETHING ELSE. I HAVE OWNED KRELL EQUIPMENT FOR TEN YEARS STARTING WITH THEIR KSA-250 AMP AND NOW THEIR FPB-300 AMP AND KRC-HR PREAMP AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THEIR EQUIPMENT. IT IS BUILT LIKE A TANK. HOWEVER, I STILL BELIEVE THE LEVINSON, THETA AND WADIA DIGITAL STUFF IS BETTER THAN KRELL. HOPE THIS HELPS.. BY THE WAY, I SOLD THE KRELL DSP BECAUSE IT WASN'T VERY FULL SOUNDING. IT HAD A REAL THIN SOUND TO THE MUSIC.

Audionut, Thanks for input on the old krell DSP. Glad to hear it's built like a tank but disheartened to hear that you do not think to much of the sound. I guess I have made a big mistake buying this thing without auditioning it. Oh well, I'm just getting started in building a system and we all make mistakes. Dickens, I never realized you responded to my original e-mail about the Krell DSP cd player. I noticed you bought that unit and wondered if it is working out in your system? You can always call Krell and see if an upgrade is available. I just upgraded a FPB600 to the cast and it cost me 2500 plus shipping. My email is MSSIIDD38@AOL.COM Happy listening.
