Johnny A Flac download at hdtracks

I just downloaded Jonny A - "Get Inside" in FLAC at hdtracks. Wow. This guy is an amazing guitar player. The whole album cost only eleven bucks, and it really sounds great.

thanks for the heads up.

What DAC are you using?

Do you have SACD (ovbiously not that exact title) to compare the general quality.
Johnny A has been lauded by guitarists for many years, glad you've discovered him! He is truly one of the greats IMO, love his playing. Also look for his cd "Sometime Tuesday Morning," also excellent. If you're a guitarist, his cd's are available in tab/note transcriptions and are a source of good things to learn. He also has a DVD out that I haven't seen yet, but have heard good things about. I've really wanted to see him live, but he's got a bad back & doesn't like to travel. Those of you who live in the Boston area, get out and go see him if you can. BTW, if you like Johnny A, try to find another cd by a great Nashville session guitarist, the 2004 release "Tailgate Troubadour" by Greg V. Check out his website www.gregv.us for music, info, mp3's, & other stuff. He's another "guitarist's guitarist" worth getting to know.

Using a Cullen Stage IV DL-III (PS Audio). I no longer have an SACD player, so I can't directly compare. By memory, the Cullen DAC takes well recorded Redbook CDs to the same level as what I remember of SACD (not so, obviously, with lesser-quality Redbook); the well-recorded CDs ripped to FLAC sound (to me) pretty much identical to the original CDs (I rip with EAC); the Johnny A Flac download sounds about as good as my best rips (it's a little colored - slightly dark, maybe a little bass-heavy -but pretty darn good). I haven't heard the CD to compare with. I'm pretty excited to know that I can access this type of quality download from the net, and I can't wait to explore more. So far I have only downloaded a few flack files from the internet (from the B&W Members Music downloads, and from Hdtracks).

Hope this helps.
