A very close friend and collaborator of John's---Iris Dement---spoke of John when I saw her in February, telling a few funny stories that included him. There are some You Tube videos of the two performing together for those interested. They remind me of Johnny & June, George & Tammy.

An amazing talent, down to earth and a natural song writer. A friend used to sing the lyrics to Sam Stone, that friend also had a hole in his arm. Among my favorites, Angel From Montgomery, Paradise, and Sam Stone. His songs seemed to touch the soul. The saddest, for me, was Hello in There, it still makes me cry. May his music live forever.
