Jay's Audio Lab Visits GR Research's Listening Room
I have been saying this a while....If you can DIY a kit, have a tall ceiling and only have 5000 dollars, you could end up with some top tier sound with the GR NX-treme model.

I believe another youtuber/BACCH dealer, Audiophile Junkie, uses the NX-treme as his daily driver still. I am fairly certain he can afford some very expensive speakers, but, he just seems to be hanging on to the GR tall tower..
You never know, i suppose....Some of you may not end up liking the sound of some expensive item, you may very well prefer the sound of something cheaper, even if you can afford very expensive things.

Respectfully, to me Jay's behavior was one of thoughtful analysis mixed with some confusion. Was he struggling with not being impressed, or shocked by how good the experience? He did mention mention the balance of the audio to be very good and more like a live performance.. His questions about Sub adjustment indicated to me the first time exposed to open baffle bass. His own system probably produces chest thumping bass due to room mode. Overall, I think Jay was being cautiously reserved not overreacting either direction. Hopefully, later videos will clarify Jay's impressions. There is no way to judge anybody's system based on YouTube audio. I checked out a couple of the sample tracks and understand why they were chosen. Will definitely reveal the quality of a superior system. |
My brother just built the Bully kits and they really arent very good to my ears. Decent bombast, but not particularly good in most other areas. I do not like the servo powered woofer sound. Even at the kit price not a very good bargain. Fairly easy to drive however. They had about 50 to 60 hours on them so perhaps a bit more time will help. Cant judge the other speakers in his line. |
