Is it CD or SACD?

I just bought a Cambridge DVD89. So I picked up a hybrid SACD of Pink Floyd DSOTM to check it out. It plays but how do I know if I am hearing the CD layer or the SACD layer?

Your player should tell you what layer it is playing. Most SACD players I have owned will default to the SACD layer. See what the manual tells you. Also some have a little LED that lights up when it is playing and SACD or Redbook to indicate which layer it is reading.
It will say sacd in the display or show the SACD Insignia.
If not sure,Call the company
You will hear 44,100 samples per second if playing the CD layer but 2.8 million bits per second on SACD.
The one that sounds the most airy and analog like is the SACD layer. Check out the previous posts related to SACD vs Redbook. (does no one read the manual?)
Here is the manual info: http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/assets/documents/AzurDVD86-89UserManual-English.pdf

This might also be useful to know: http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/sts/faqs_view.php?FAQID=79&Question=Do+Cambridge%27s+universal+CD%2FDVD%2FSACD+players+decode+SACD+in+the+single-bit%2C+lossless+mode%2C+or+is+the+signal+upconverted+to+another+format+before+leaving+the+player%3F

You can set up the SACD playback priority in the DVD set-up menu, See: http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/sts/faqs_view.php?FAQID=166&Question=How+do+I+set+my+DVD99+to+output+SACD+over+the+analogue+5.1+multi-channel+outputs%3F

Bored today I guess;)
