how exactly is it that you manage to constantly short your amp?
If you turn power off on your amps, indeed all of your gear before touching cables/interconnects, and double/triple check that your speaker cables are properly attached before turning power back on, there shouldn't be an issue.
As for amps that are impervious, I think some have protective circuits that do this, but I'm not sure which amps have them.
