Investing in a SCD777ES with a DAC

I have a mint SCD777ES that was replaced for a
SCD-XA5400ES in my main rig. I have been reading many posts where the SCD777ES is used as transport and hooked to a top tier DAC. Would this be a wise investment considering I already have the next generation sony cd/sacd player?
