Integrating RME ADI-2-DAC FS based 2 channel system into surround system?

Looking very strongly at the RME ADI-2-DAC FS to work as both the DAC & pre for my 2 channel system.  These units only have digital inputs so I'm just wondering what kinds of options are available for integrating into a surround sound system.

I think the easiest option would be to just use an optical audio splitter and to send the same signal to the RME as well as the receiver.  What is the best way to achieve this?  Finding a receiver with a toslink or SPDIF output?  HDMI extractor?

I know that the BEST option would be to just buy the Pro version of the RME so I can take an audio output from a receiver into an analog input on the RME.  The only drawback is that $800 seems like a big spend just for this 1 extra function.

Thoughts?

I think one option that doesn't increase your cost would be to run the ADI-2 into the analog inputs on your receiver, and switch your receiver into pure direct mode.
I think a better analog option might be just having 2 cables going to the power amp via a selector box or just swapping connections on the amp to keep the hifi side as pure as possible.  Probably over thinking everything as usual.
