Infinity RS 1B - How does the 'old dream speaker' compare to today's speakers?

Just saw again a photo of the 4 RS 1B towers, which 40+ years ago was my 'best speaker in the world' (yet never heard one).

I know there a quite a few owners still out there, and would assume they had a chance to compare them side by side to modern "Audiophile" (say $10k or more if needed) speakers.

How do they compare?

Or maybe links to source material where that question is discussed?

Sounds like the IRS are still competing well with modern speakers. I would have guessed that they had fallen behind due to decades in material (and electronics) development).

What I WANTED to ask about was the BIG Infinity. Checked today and it is the IRS, with full length EMIT for mid and high. Vs the Rs-1b with less midrange EMITS and only 3 tweeter EMITs (plus one in the back).

ervikingo: I heard a pair of RS-1B in a local store. Disappointing. But turns out there was all sorts of things wrong with that pair/setup. Some of the mids NOTICEABLY rattled, not sure if the crossover was used properly, etc. They were cheap, but even at the low price, not 'worth it' IMO. Must have been THAT pair, because otherwise the RS=1B cannot be that bad (maybe not on the level of the IRS).

mgattmch thanks again for the link. Watched it again. Interestingly, the "Mike from Brighton" is probably in the same Brighton that I live!
