Im sick of seeing stupid prices on We, Tannoy Silver and Black. Whats so Great about them?

Can someone help me make sense on the extreme prices of Western Electric 15 inch Tannoy Black and Silver speakers.
They better be frigging mind boggling for the price. Please dont bring up the rarity factor as it has absolutely nothing to do with sound.

Cult items with a cult following command high prices! I'd rather have a pair of new-production 15" JBL woofers!

Its all about the Asian market ,they have driven prices on a lot of American products..ie vintage guitars....ask the Asians is a better approach
if you got money to burn like CEO'S in this country you can afford them toys. but if you are a working person like all of us, just try to feed you family or pay a light bill you can't have it. you must remember grass hopper the RICH RUN THIS COUNTRY!!!!
Really, doesn't seem like much of that is going on at any level or price tag. Running the country.. that is.

HAY MC the rich are running Seattle!!! LOL, are they now... We got the loonies running the loonie bin....OK...

Some of the old Altec, JBL, Tannoy, can draw a HUGE asking price, doesn't mean they always get it, though.. Not me any more.. Maybe a GREAT JBL system. Only reason would be the lottery, though. I don't play very often.. :-)

Nostalgia, hobbyists who feel " they don't make 'em like they used to", and as mentioned earlier...the Asian market.

Like it or not rarity plays a role in any market. I sold a 30 year old camping tent (to a Japanese ebay'er) for far more than I paid simply because the well respected manufacturer (Moss) had gone out of business years ago. These tents are a hot commodity with campers/backpackers there because they're increasingly hard to find. It's weird, but the market determines the price.

There are track cars built today that offer more performance at lower prices than the Ferarri 250 GTO, but since they made less than 40, and aren't making anymore, you better show up with tens of millions in order to buy one. Why complain about prices and discredit the main reason for your complaint?
