I discovered an old list of recommended music...

Some recent housecleaning revealed an old but incomplete list of recommended classical music. I only have the information as it is written below (my notes are in parenthesis.) Someone thought they were worth writing down, so can anyone fill in the details and provide recommended recordings?

6 Dances for String and Orchestra
(Composer unknown)

Masonic Funeral Music
Mozart

Meeting of Volga & Donn- Canal
Prokofiev

In Honor of City of London
Walton/Wilcox

American Quartet
Dvorak
sequel22
I really doubt that the Archiv LP referred to is what the OP has since it is extremely unlikely that it would be so labelled. If he wants more info on that, he has to provide more info.

Might be the 6 Dances on the record "Tanzmusik der Praetorius Zeit" Archiv 198 166 (LP catalog number) - an excellent album of music from the Renaissance I also believe this is a TAS recommended recording. This is a hard one to find in excellent condition because of the flimsy paper bound record jacket used buy them.
Some thoughts below:

6 Dances for String and Orchestra
(Composer unknown)

>> Might be the 6 Dances on the record "Tanzmusik der Praetorius Zeit" Archiv 198 166 (LP catalog number) - an excellent album of music from the Renaissance/early Baroque.

.
Masonic Funeral Music
Mozart

>> There are various good performances, among them: Fricsay, Kertesz, Szell, Walter, Norrington.

.
In Honor of City of London
Walton/Wilcox

>> A large choral work by William Walton, similar in scale to his Belshazzar's Feast, but only 16 minutes long. Good performance by Richard Hickox on EMI coupled with the Belshazzar's Feast.

.
American Quartet
Dvorak

>> The String Quartet in F, op96 ("American"). Many excellent performances. I enjoy the Janacek Qt on London/Decca, the Talich Qt on Calliope, and the Lindsay Qt on ASV.
