How we chose our audio and what we chose

In the start of building our audio system there was a lot of research and hoping that we made the right choices(amp, speakers). When you have 2 people debating what speakers, amp, sub, ect. to buy it can be a challenge. My wife would give her thoughts and opinions and I would listen, we auditioned together and I researched. We agreed on the amp but I said get the most powerful one from the manufacturer, done.

Speakers were the most time consuming, sometimes amazed and sometimes not impressed, there were 2 places that were terrible when it came to the auditions. I felt very strong about the speakers and gave my reasons why. Though we only listened to them once and not under great conditions. it was the tweeters and quality of the speaker that sold me. I honestly believed it would impress us at home, my wife agreed but wasn't sold on the tweeter. She really liked the Focals at the audition but now when we compare them, she likes the sweetness of the Legacy tweeter, we can listen to them for hours at high db's and not feel fatigued.

Amplifier: Primaluna EVO 400  (8/7/22 ordered KT150 tubes)

Main speakers: Legacy Signature SE

Subwoofer: JL Audio E110 (8/8/22 ordered another E110 sub)

Cables: Morrow Audio SP-4

Turntable: Fluance RT 85

Cartridge:  Ortofon 2M Blue

DAC: Schiit Bifrost

We bought everything pretty much at the same time so I can't say any one item sounded better after the break in. After many hours of listening, I noticed the speakers had much more bass, not impressed at all in the beginning and the tweeters sounded a little smoother. The majority of our listening is stereo, usually 60db area and some Saturdays pushing to 100db's. We do enjoy movies with in 5 channel but the center channel does need to be replaced, we were going to get the Legacy Silverscreen HD but decided to do that next year. The rear channels are way down on the list.

Two channel (or 4 channel) is a often workable for 2 people.
Just take your time.

It's nice your wife listens well enough to provide some input. My wife likes to listen but more often than not it's just background for her. Sounds like you've put together a nice system.
