How to eliminate static in outer limit

I bought a clearaudio outer limit to complement my maximum solution. Admittedly the sound improved by a wide margin thus I cannot play an LP without using it. The downside is I get jolted by static each time I take it out after playing. I have used the supplied ground wire and connected it to my pre-amp but I still get jolted. What should I do?
