HI Larry - Take a look at the Backert Labs Rhumba Extreme. It is an amazing pre with tubes ( long tube life), a green power supply, XLR and RCA ins and outs, the most clever home theater by-pass ever, and WONDERFUL tonality and presentation of space that you won't find in preamps cost 3-4 times as much.

Hello fellow A-gons i have been in search for a new Pre Amp. I have been rebuilding my system for seven years after a total lose to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. I currently own custom:

Still working on upgrade Amps at another time would like to try a new Pre Amp looking At Pass X-20, Rouge, Bryston, CJ etc
any suggestions without breaking the Bank?
