@carlsbad2 i had the same system for 8 years straight until my latest change in dac and amplifier and cabling. I think this is going to stay away. It plays well with my Ahmad Jamal, Kendrick Scott Oracle,Duke Pearson, Buika and Cecile Salvant. Just gonna let it play |
@tattooedtrackman im a big fan of audio research as well they make some really great gear. I had a preamp of theirs for a dem for about 3 months a few years ago. |
@sierratrails looks like a pretty nice rig you got there. |
@drrsutliff i like the gryphon stuff I have heard at shows. Very musical. |
@everyone your system is truly a journey. Our audiophile journey starts when we are young as for a lot of us. We get older, make more money and buy more expensive gear along the way. Learning more about the quality of the gear we purchase along the way. For some of us our ability to afford more expensive gear coincides with the additional knowledge we have gained to allow us to have systems better than the ones we had before it. |
@bigtwin i also had my previous system for 8 years until I changed to Infigo last year. I’m really enjoying what I have and I’m going to keep it for a good while. |
@ozzy please stay off my thread this isn’t about infigo. I’m trying to find out about systems as well as music. I will not post on your threads moving forward. I was an audiophile before infigo and will be one after. |
@akg_ca i definitely understand how u feel I thought I would never spend this much but as I heard better I wanted better. Audio has really made great advancements |
@bigtwin i started with a 1500 system. Def tech. I moved up the ladder of my last 20 years. Sometimes swapping out things month to month. Over the years I learned more. I heard better systems. I went from def tech, to b&w, Sonus Faber, Vienna Acoustics, revel, to Gato. I went from classe, mark levinson, EAR, Esoteric, Veloce, Kr Audio, Soulution now the to the company I work for which is INFIGO AUDIO. Learning more each time I moved up in price. Sometimes it wasn’t just about money. I realized what I listened to and what equipment performed best. Now my system is 50 times retail of what I started with but I’m in a good spot now and will probably keep what I have for a long time. I learned more about soundstage, depth, detail, transparency, low noise floors etc. It’s not always about money. We grow in this hobby. As we get older we know more and sometimes have more money to spend. My Gato speaker for instance retails at 14k. I have not found anything better to my ear unless it was 2 to 3 times the price for my room, system and listening habits. Synergy is also important. We all learn and spend in this hobby based mostly on our ears. Just enjoy as much as you can. If you ann afford it try it and enjoy. If not get the best you can afford and use what you know to maximize what you have. I do get tired of those thinking that the guys who spend a lot on audio are a bunch of inexperienced delusional audiophiles. Most of us got the resources because we were smart enough to create the income to do this. If you don’t spend a lot enjoy your system. But don’t judge this of us who do spend a lot. Cheers everyone. |
@phishhhhh4 imheard the vadersteen treo at a local shop. I actually enjoyed them and I loved the design. How long have you had them. |
@carlsbad2 yup I agree with you but running out of gas and cash. Lol. You can always find more if you look hard enough. Lol 😂 |
@jacobsdad2000 yes. Sold him some infigo cables. He wanted to try the speaker cables and our owner of our company took a while to produce them because we of course are a new company. I didn’t get to get them to him fast enough. I had another customer who asked for a demo first. He got mad and had been going after me ever since. I don’t say much out of respect for the owner of our company. We allow customers to demo cables etc. I’m just tired of it honestly. Man I’m not going to say anything bad about @ozzy he bought a lot of cables from us. The world is too big to be negative. Man I just wanna enjoy the hobby. Yes I work for infigo but I’m an audiophile for life first. Time to move on from the negativity. Man it’s pretty obvious at this point but I have a lot of people who know me and that I’m a good guy. Thanks. |
@jacobsdad2000 look. I’m not trying to sell anything in this post. I’m a dealer for infigo. I’m not asking anyone to buy anything in this thread. It is about audio. Personal issues aside I even mention that I am in the posts. This discussion is about systems and journey and music not about @ozzy He has personal issues that have nothing to do with my posts. |
@everyone I did the thread for the reasons of finding out what gear folks have cycled through. What music that they use as a reference and how they got there. If I came in here gushing about the equipment asking people to try it etc. That’s one thing but I’m not. So I post as an audiophile. If I’m trying to seek you something or get you to try smthg I will always be upfront. I’m asking about your journey THATS ALL IN CAPS |
@mulveling I didn’t want this thread to be about being a dealer of anything. @ozzy brought it up. I wanted to know what people had. Why they liked it? How long they had it? How they got to this point and more importantly what was the reference music tracks they used. I didn’t try to sell people anything on this thread. I could have said that we allow demos etc I didn’t bring that up here. I just talked music and journey that’s all. Thank you for understanding. The truth of the matter is he knows I will not say much because I do work for a company. So he feels like he can say anything he wants without repercussions. I run my own firm outside of me being an audiophile or dealer so it doesn’t matter to me. Thanks for understand ing |
@dentdog whats in your system |
@carlsbad2 you speak truth. Why do I have an itch to try borrenson speakers or a raidho? But that could throw off all the synergy I have in my current system. One other thing is I have not only chose gear by price. Yes the system is pricey but design is also important. My gato designer used to design for Gamut so I took a chance on the gatos and haven’t looked back |
@arafiq I get what you re saying but this is personal. The only reason it got brought up is because the guy has a personal issue with me. Not being altruist at all. If someone is trying to sell you something yes let them know. I’m not trying to sell you anything in this post only ask your opinion and experiences. So if I post about music do I have to mention Infigo. No. I’m not going to. It is what it is. Enjoy the journey and leave the personal stuff to be personal. Let’s get back to the post. I’m an audiophile first. Was one before infigo will be one after infigo. It is what it is. |
@almosthome i think the company with my fm6 model went after the high end speaker market. They made the fm30 and fm50 after my model. The fm6 is an exceptional speaker. It shares traits of a 30k gamut speaker that I think the designer of the gato had a hand in before he made the fm6 when they started gato. It is truly a gem. I have attempted to replace it several times but the costs seem to be 22-25k to get the same level of performance. My speaker retails at 14k. I paid around 11k 8 years ago. I’m never selling it. |
@coltrane1 I CAN DIG IT! |
@jacobsdad2000 man I post here to relax and get away from the serious work I do as a lawyer. I love the hobby. I have built some great relationships in it. I don’t care to argue. I’m posting as an audiophile just like everyone else. I try to learn more each day to make my listening experience better. I have not one time in this post pushed the equipment that I sell. That’s not the purpose for this forum. I will push my equipment at upcoming shows. But this post is what I like to do off work. Learn as much as I can and engage with my fellow audiophiles. I will continue to do that. Audio is a hobby first. Side job second. Full disclosure. That guy is hell bent on some kind of revenge for a perceived slight. That’s his issue not mines. I’m going to be posting a lot and most will have nothing to do with the brand I work with. So I’m not going to always bring that up. Just my two cents my brother. |
@jacobsdad2000 fun in the hobby comes first for me. I totally understand. But the minute I can’t freely talk audio I’m out of it all. I enjoy it immensely. I’m listening right now. Lol.Not gonna let one person or situation steal my joy. I’m in this hobby cause I love it not because I have to make a living at it. I have lived a blessed life. I don’t have have to shill on forums. I just wanna learn and enjoy. |
@tbick so true here I am ear happy with my system and still wanting more! Tapping the ear vein! |
@coralkong the cp800 classe is a great piece gear. I owned it years ago |
@coralkong the classe cp800 brought me a lot of joy the a years I had it. |
@coralkong the cp800 was one of my early purchases. I held on to it for a long time. Technology just caught up with it. I think maybe I had it about 16 or 17 years ago. It served me well. I used listen to tunes from my laptop with it plugged in. At the time it was cutting edge technology. |
