Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much?

I don't have any specific example but just from looking at it overall, it seems like high-end components prices have really risen more than inflation.

Or may be it is must me?

while the highest end can be called astronomical, the quality of modest cost systems has become quite impressive...

it certainly seems rational that anyone who believes in raising cables off a wool carpet would also believe in worldwide conspiracies, absolutely

I think low and modest cost components offer more value than ever...so much of the expensive gear if bought used is easy to sell for little loss a few years later...and I remember a manufacturer of an extremely expensive amp saying he expected to sell 2 or 3 a year worldwide, so these prices are not really representative of the industry...

this is high end audio, discretionary elite spending...as mentioned by many, the cost of very good quality audio is less than ever...

can’t imagine Revel would hesitate to raise prices if it would increase sales...and this site still occasionally has some great deals...
