Has anyone here had any dealings with Tekton, particularly their subwoofers

As I explore options for replacing equipment I am it seems constantly finding new sources of components to consider. Tekton has appeared on my radar due to another thread here at audiogon. I just wondered if anyone has gone this direction for subwoofers in particular, but I also have questions about their full range speakers and what they are like to deal with. Given that the world of hi-fi has become even more of a smoke and mirrors game than it has been in the past, I am more cautious about who I am willing to throw down money for than I ever have been.

Since they are a manufacturer direct company (no dealer in the middle, adding another 50%, 60%, etc to the price tag), their speakers and subs can represent great value.

I had a pair of double impacts inside a larger office room for a while in my former house. I still have their 4-10 subwoofers, currently in storage due to lack of space. It is an excellent subwoofer for music and all other applications.

Echoing another comment above, their customer service is good.

To end my rant, I was going to buy subs but after the months of waiting on the wires and being told they’d ship immediately, I was a little soured on them for my subs and went with rhythmiks instead, which I HIGHLY recommend for subs. Would love to hear a pair of 4-10s or 6-10s but felt I’d get a smoother experience with rhythmik. For what it’s worth, with my tektons tops and rhythmik bottoms, I’m at +/-3 DB frequency response from 25 hz to 20 khz at my listening position with limited room EQ. Tekton has a pair of 4-10s on their specials for $1700. Definitely tempting... but I do love my rhythmiks

@jrareform Hard to beat out Rythmiks in the sub world, but, the tekton subs with a driver at head height and above do help deal with some heightwise & coupled modes, even if someone doesn’t quite get the physics behind how they couple into a room. Otherwise, in many instances, one may need to start lifting a regular sub off the floor in a multisub config.

One may regularly see some Rel stacks that sum to a small fortune and continue to sound like mud, for example, in some of the ’high end’ rooms.... A single one of these Tektons has the potential to beat em all out in execution...(at normal listening levels for most guys, 85-ish db & under, that is)

My negative comments were based on appearance only...and were intended to be funny.

@livinon2wheels Many Tekton models (not all) with the different color combinations look like some expression of modern art to me, quirky not ugly. Oddly, my spouse liked the look of the double impacts I had in the past (!!) though it was in my office room. She thought the array looked like a flower.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder perhaps. For example, here is a guy sitting in front of some of the ugliest speakers on earth (in my eyes) saying that the look of Tekton speakers could be improved cool. Go figure.

Any thoughts on subs with serious infransonic output?

Rythmik F18, 18inch sealed servo sub or G25HP (dual opposed 15 inch, runner up)...Slamfest down to ~10 hz, but, very much a high fidelity sub without taking too much space or costing anything. I use a couple of these in a hybrid rig.

if your wallet or space is not an issue, ascendo from Germany should fit the ticket. The subs can get huge, infrasonic for days.

You don’t need to read many of the 137 pages to realize that, as is most often the case with real life, things are not 100% black and white.

@devinplombier

You are the guy assigned to this fourm for ASR defense, huh? Ok, EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THIS TECHNICS DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT

AND WHY THIS REVEL MADE THE CUT (golfing panther n all)

P.S. Whichever ASR dude reports this comment as violating some forum rule (Don’t i know how you operate)...., no worries, i’ll get a hold of the admin and bring it back this time, i promise.
