Guitar playing audiophiles, Martin or Taylor?

My "other half" is exploring the stress releiving effects of playing acoustic guitar. She's a great woman! She actually convinced me to buy a pair of Rowland model 9 monos w bps, instead of a boat. Thats my girl! Anyway, shes been playing for 1.5 yrs. Its a toss up between Martin ???? Koa wood, Taylor 314ce, Takamini GS330s, and a Tocoma???sound hole on top!!! All these models can be had "used" for around 900.00 All replys welcome, thanks Scot

You got your answer right away from @mknowles16 !

Finding a comfortable neck shape and body style are really important and the only way to discover what’s comfortable for your wife is for her to play a bunch of different guitars. If the guitar isn’t comfortable for her to play, the name on the headstock will be poor consolation. My previous guitar was a Martin and it was great but take care that your like for Martins doesn’t get in the way of her finding the guitar that works best for her! And keep in mind that there are many good guitar tones, just like there are many good audio system sounds.

... and Pete Townshend, G. Harrison, Dylan (at least he posed with one on Nashville Skyline cover), Rev. Gary Davis, Cat Stevens, Graham Parsons...

As you’re no doubt aware, Neil played a D45 live around the time of Harvest.

I recall an interview with Ry Cooder in which he described his D45 as a "piece of junk-- only good for playing slide".

For the record, I’ve owned two Martins and liked them both a lot. I might still play a Martin if they offered more models with the neck carve/nut width I prefer.

I can relate to your enjoyment of hi-end acoustics. I have a Boucher BG52GM, which I prefer to Martins as it is still warm but clearer in the bass without emasculating the bass like so many guitar makers do who describe their instruments as "balanced".

The OP's wife will be shopping at a much less exalted price point. The question will be whether she can find an inexpensive guitar that she finds comfortable and sounds good to her.

So, did your wife find a guitar?????????

just noticed, the OP is from 2004… by now the OP’s wife must have played quite a few guitars…lol.
