Getting sound out of Meridian DSP 5000

Just got a pair of Meridian DSP 5000. I have the master hooked up directly to the digital out put of a cd player. The only way I can get the master to do anything with when I hit LD button on the MSR remote on the speaker display i see LD.65 None of the other buttons do anything. I can't change the volume. It won't even turn them off. I get no sound out of them.
