Is this how you talk when you've ran out of talking points? Only you can bring up politics when it doesn't suit your fancy? Do you see the fallacy of your argument?

I mentioned this before about going back to the gym after my cataract surgery and after thinking it over, I think I'm going to postpone that. Just an hour ago I got a recorded message from Kaiser (my medical provider) listing all the precautions to take, frequent washing of hands, etc. and they also mentioned to just stay away from crowds to be sure.

It's one thing to read about what precautions to take, another to hear from your medical provider. Looks like faster walks and time to start using that kettle bell, along with some basic stretching and just using my body weight for resistance.

The one thing I've benefited from not going to the gym is that rather painful shoulder I've had for the last year is practically gone. Time to reassess.

@tomic601 , sounds like a prudent thing to do considering the company.
Maybe I'll invest in pharmaceuticals and upscale prisons.
One can dream.

Just another example of selective history. If you bothered to read the link provided, you’d see that the virus was discovered on April 15 and on April 18, the CDC reported it to the WHO and coordinated efforts.

By April 21, the CDC began working on the vaccine. By the 22nd, the CDC opened it’s EOC (emergency operations center) and by the 24th completed gene sequencing, offering it to the world to speed up research and response. Did you forget that it takes 12-18 months to come up with a vaccine?

I could go on but you can read it all for yourself. Everything you cite was done to speed things up but we were on top of it, unlike now.

The reason why H1N1 didn't raise such a panic is that we were right on top of it and worked like hell to solve it.
CDC’s response to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic response was complex, multi-faceted and long-term, lasting more than a year. This document seeks to document for the public the key events of the pandemic as they unfolded and CDC’s response. The following is a summary narrative of highlighted CDC-related events from the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.
https://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/cdcresponse.htm

It still managed to kill anywhere from 151,700-575,400 worldwide. Some say a number of 284,000 deaths worldwide is the likely amount.

To those who post these annoying political blah blah blahs here, apparently yes.
Looks like it's grade school time, again.
You're banished to the kid's table.

oregonpapa,

Actually, 62,979,879 people put you-know-who into office and I don't doubt that some are audiophiles. 65,844,954 people who voted otherwise also have some audiophiles. Of the almost 100,000,000 who didn't vote, some are audiophiles as well. Does one side matter more than the other?

Some of them post here as well and had to listen to a lot of bunk put out on an almost daily basis by the ones who comprised the lessor amount with nary a word said. It was like free range carping. I've mentioned it before and it doesn't seem to sink in.

If your admonition was to me about their feelings, what about other's feelings, or is this just a one way street? Likewise, I too, respect your feelings.

uberwaltz,
Your frequent flier rewards must be up there.
The last time I was in an airliner was back in '89.

uberwaltz,
My bad. I thought the prices went down across the board and not just for international flights, and that good old greed got the better of folk.

A flying Petri dish.

Nothing like breathing that recirculated air. When prices go down, people will take advantage of it. Can't pass up on a bargain like that.

Good new: a Dr. Patel just spoke on TV and she was just in contact with two university heads of their respective health departments and they've been ready to do testing for some time now. They have the capacity to do 1,000 tests a day each with results in an hour.

The only thing is, no one has given the okay to do testing on the levels required and forward it to them.

Ohio is closing all K-12 schools and I think Michigan is doing the same. That leaves 48 states to go. NYC declared a state of emergency. Cases up 42 compared to a day ago. The doctors were right is saying we’re going to see a lot of spikes in infection and it’s to be expected, since they’ve always been there but haven’t been tested for yet.

The first F1 race is this weekend and McLaren and Haas are pulling out due to at least one crew member having the virus. I waited all this time for F1 and now this.

They had a reporter in China say that if you board a bus, enter a store, or even try to get back into your apartment, you will be tested. They said the facilities they wait in are nice and some prefer it to the loneliness of staying home, alone.

Since I’ve been out due to cataract surgery, I haven’t been to my gym. I called and inquired about the attendance and they told me all is well and they clean things on a regular basis. I’m still not sure if I will go back since I’m in that age group with the worse reactions to this. What part does vanity play in this?

Some guy in Italy just got a €60 fine for walking around in public. But I am happy to hear the LTC facility where my sister resides has restricted visiting time to just three hours a day. You can't get in unless you finish a questionnaire and have your temperature taken.

At least some are taking this seriously.

How about you tell us how you prepare for the coming days? Maybe we can all get some useful idea.
Already did. Just go off on a tangent like you? Not likely.

glupson,
Just what do you want to be discussed concerning the coronavirus?
I've only cited Drs., the WHO, policies being implemented in this country, etc. You come back with "conspiracies" which is the political fallback meme of a certain stripe along with "fake news".

Does citing those policies upset you? I never mentioned him formally as that is already considered verboten, so I use pronouns and you get upset? There's no way to separate the two.

How about we talk about how Wall Street is handling this? Are they part of that great big conspiracy you allude to? Did the market drop 9 Trillion dollars because of a conspiracy against someone? Or was it the way it was handled, just like the medical response? Is that topic off the table as well? How's everybody's 401K doing, by the way?

All the best,
Nonoise
Wrong again.
No. It is called "being frustrated". Give us a break with political conspiracies. It is really getting boring.
That kind of talk is and had been used by a certain side ad nauseam as a fall back position when running out of talking points. To commit anything more to memory is just too taxing, I guess.

That is a political talking point, plain and simple.

Dr. Fauci said the common flu's rate is 0.1% and this virus is 0.9-1.0% which rounds up to 10 time worse. That figure of 3.4 was suspected after it first came out due to lack of data.

And, all this talk about "herd immunity" is being bandied about as if we're all back in the 14th century. It's been noticed on certain sites and other forms of programming and media but not at all used by the medical community while informing the public.

No doctor, in their right mind, is telling people to go out and get yourself infected. Quite the opposite. Just the herd mentality in some, here.

The purpose of using current data and keeping the public informed is to flatten the curve. Just go back and read the link that snapsc posted. It's a long read but I'm sure you can do it.

And, when politics interjects itself into medicine and how it affects the community at large, it's kinda hard to separate the two, but we're doing our best. To bring it up as an argument because you don't wanna hear it is being political, dontcha think?

All the best,

@snapsc,
Thanks for the link. It’s a great source for understanding the math behind it all and how to interpret it. The author should be proud of himself for the levels he went to to explain it.

And, this just in: burial sites in Iran are large enough to be seen by our satellites. At first I thought the photos were of large farming plots. There is a clamp down of any info coming out of Iran and to see those burial sites doesn’t give one any reassurance. Granted, they have lower standards and infrastructure than we do but it’s still bad.

And, the Italian Minister of Health just checked into the hospital with the virus.

That's a big 10-4, sir. Unfortunately, when a governor like Jay Inslee goes ahead and takes the initiative, someone from the Oval Office goes on TV and calls him a snake.

It's funny when presenting facts from the premier medical experts are considered "hyperbole". And as for that "expertise of the Corona virus task force", the team that headed the office for situations like this was shut down two years ago because the previous administration thought it prudent to have them at the ready.

You see, we knew that after an outbreak two years prior, we discovered  a couple other strains like this due to Walter Reed Hospital (our military) working with civilian scientists to identify and stop a different virus. They didn't do that before.

We knew it was out there but the money wasn't available to work on a vaccine, which is why we created that agency, which was shut down.

@thecarpathian,
I couldn't find Dr. Fauci quoted online but it was broadcasted all day long on TV. The only online quote I could find is his saying "many, many millions" will get it.

The only quote that uses those figures that I could find were from Dr. Monahan, the attending physician of Congress and the Supreme Court.
And, I inverted the numbers which should be 70-150 million. I was tired when I posted it.

Dr. Brian Monahan, the attending physician of Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court, said he expects 70 million to 150 million people in the United Stateswill become infected with COVID-19, NBC News reported, citing two sources.

Monahan made the comments to Senate staff during a closed-door meeting Tuesday afternoon, according to NBC News. The meeting did not include senators and was for administrative office staff and personnel from both parties, NBC News reported. – Lovelace

Numbers aside, the Italians are warning us not to do the same thing they did, which really worsened the situation. They all went around saying it's just another flu and didn't take it seriously.

All the best,
Nonoise

Our best expert, Dr Fauci says it's 10 times more deadly than the common flu. Not exactly plague level but anyone with half a brain can do the math.

He also went on to say 50-170 million will catch it here in the states. Again, do the math.

I believe Tom was doing pre production work for a film on Elvis for Warner Brothers and traveling at the same time with his wife.

It is bad to hear but it’s only the beginning. One NBA player has it and the NBA is suspending the season until further notice. Tom Hanks and his wife have it. They got it while filming down in Australia and have gone into voluntary quarantine.

Trump just banned all travel from Europe to America unless you’re from The United Kingdom (which doesn’t make sense) and South Korea (which makes even less sense). But these are the cards we’ve been dealt.

States, counties and cities have began banning groups of anywhere from 250-1000, depending on the occasion and circumstances.

Be vigilant. Wash your hands frequently. Don’t go and crowd the hospitals with something they have no cure for yet. Only go in if you’re having difficulty breathing. Again, wash your hands frequently. That can’t be stressed enough.

Nonoise
