Geer Fab DBOB coax cable problem

Bought a DBOB a little bit ago and it really made a big improvement with SACD reproduction from my Oppo bdp 93 A helluva lot cheaper than a substantial player upgrade. No need for yet another dedicated player as a bonus! However, I did have a problem with intermittent drop outs with the coax connection. I had two different older coax cables with the same issue with both so I reached out to Geerfab. After trying a a couple things (a cheap Sony universal player and cable swaps)Eric Geer had me send it to him. No problem for him so he sent it back to me without charge after determining that it was not the unit. In the interim I bought a new cable. When it ce back I tried using the new audiquest cinnamon cable and low and behold problem solved! So either I had two cables gone bad or the device doesn't like older cables in general. We're talking late 90's early 2000's. It was not a problem with the Toslink, only coax. So anyone experiencing this issue might want to verify that it's not a cable issue before persuing other options. I do want to thank Eric Geer for all the help and working with me to resolve the situation. Great guy and a great product.

I use a Benchmark SPDIF from my GeerFab to the DAC. I used to have the Benchmark DAC3B on this chain and it worked all the time. However, I sold the DAC3B and now have the Schitt Yggi+ OG on this setup. I have not had time to try it out yet. I will give it a shot tonight with the same cable.

The Schitt does not do DSD so I am not sure if it will work, unless it can use DSP over PCM. That is for SACD’s via my very low cost used OPPO.

The GeerFab is a great unit, and it replaced my modded Sony SCD-1 (that died) and it is hard to match the Sony in sound quality. The GeerFab is better than the Sony in some ways, clarity of the newer DACs. Though the modded Sony had a great sound even if it lacked some detail.
