Garrard 301 plinth isolation washers - to use or not to use

I seem to have read endless threads on plinths for the venerable Garrard 301, including Art Dudley’s blow-by-blow account of the effect of overtightening the bolts between the chassis and the plinth.

Nowhere have I seen mention of the isolation washers originally supplied by Garrard to go between the chassis and the mounting board. With the washers, there is a slight gap between the mounting board and the chassis, which presumably allows the chassis more freedom to vibrate and / or reduces transmission of vibrations from the mounting board.

What do you do, especially if you have gone the massive plinth route?

2 rebuilt 401s in use. One 7" Baltic ply and one 50mm slate. Both do not use washers or damping. Hand tightened bolts.
