Full range speakers with small footprint?

I've decided to sell my Vandersteen 2Ce's because they are too big (or visually imposing) for my living room and my planned dedicated listening room is not going to happen very soon. Can anyone recommend a floor standing speaker with a smaller footprint that is capable of producing some bass? They would be driven by Quicksilver amps, 60 wpc.

Thanks for your ideas, Jeff.

Tvad,

I have the Merlin VSM-MXs with a Velodyne DD-15 sub. With the latest BBAM the Merlins have clean and authoritative bass with rock music down to 30hz or slightly below, under which the sub adds the ultimate foundation with the xover set at a 30hz. I can see this clearly on the integrated spectrum analyzer in the Velodyne and hear it as well. Within their range the Merlins are great bass performers (if you like your bass clean and tight), but their bass is quite dependent on correct room positioning and proper spiking. So perhaps the question is whether a speaker that goes into the low 30hz range is "full range."

Acoustic Energy AE3 Reference Mk II. Really phenomenal performance in a truly small floorstander. Cabinet only measures 7.25" x 11" x 39".
Flat to 43hz anechoic but flat to 35hz in room and only 3db down at 30hz. Very efficient and sound excellent
Celius or Antal

They measure to the low 40's but in most room go into the mid 30s because the room helps. Inexpensive and very efficient
I have a pair of Totam Hawks and they are great little speakers! Easy to listen to and have a holographic soundstage. I get 35hz in my room easily. ;-)
If your budget extends high enough, the Zu Definition will extend lower than anything else mentioned and occupy only a 12 inch square on your floor. They will reach down to 16 Hz, and require only about 30 watts to play thunderously loud. Your Quicksilver amps are more than enough.
