Flex minidsp Dirac Live

So I acquired one of these with a Umix-1 microphone. I have a Luxman L507-z that I put in separate mode which disconnects the preamp from the main amp. Im going pre-out to the minidsp then analog out to main in. This allows me to use room correction. The room Im in is not treated and wont be since Im moving a couple months. There are some weird room features. Fireplace on one long wall and a Huge German wooden wall unit on the other. Room is basically 11.5w x 16.5L.

I have the volume set so that at 0DB on the mindsp im putting out around peak95DB at my seating position and then -5db is maxis around 89db peak Question is: Am I loosing quality doing this. I read it is bit perfect running the minidsp between 0-  -10db. Allowing the Luxman flavor to pass thru. The room correction does Time Alignment as well which is really nice. Sounds pretty good to me. Speakers are Cornwall IVs Opinions? Thanks in advance

I use a mini DSP unit.  I think you have to use your ears to judge the validity of the results and experiment with the different curves.  I spent maybe 2 hours doing this and haven’t looked back since the day I installed it.  My listening room is relatively small and if I move out of the sweet spot the settings sound less valid, but I if I am out of the sweet spot it’s because I am occupied in a task that distracts me from listening so I don’t care much.

There is no absolute truth here.  You are digitally manipulating the signal in an attempt to correct for quirks in the listening room.  If it sounds right, stop, relax, enjoy
