Ferrule with banana connector

Hi,
I've had the pleasure to make my own cables for Studio passive speakers I use for mixing and mastering and found the regular tightening with solder too insecure and decided to put ferrule over the ends of my cables and tighten them with the banana connector screws.
Was this a good idea or am I gonna have a higher resistance?
Personally, I'd prefer if they were banana connectors with soldering shelves such as in XLR cables?

I think a pure copper/gold plated ferrule is perfectly fine if not preferable to screwing the wire directly.  Thinner wires tend to be damaged/sheared off by the turning of a set screw.  The ferrules keeps all the wires tidy, undamaged, in close proximity.  It also can make the connection more gas tight and slow oxidation.  So in the end it may have less resistance if you are concerned about that.  I view a soldered connection as inferior.  I'm sure others may feel differently.
