favorite TCHAIKOVSKY Piano Concerto No.1

Argerich has recorded that piece twice a live recording with Kondrashin conducting absolutely the most stunning recording of that work I've heard. The other time was with Dutoit conducting, excellent recording but not in the same league as the Kondrashin. And of course the Van Cliburn is also outstanding.

If you enjoyed that, have a listen to her performance of Tchaikovsky piano trio (Deutsche Grammophon 459 326-2). I picked up this copy less than a year ago...I'm sure it's still available.

Obviously Van Cliburn/Kondrashin RCA 55912-2-RC; Also great and relatively unknown is Santiago Rodriguez with Sofia Philharmonic/Emil Tabakov on ELAN CD-2228; There is also a good performance from Pletnev and the Philharmonia Orchestra on Virgin Classics.
