External CD-rom players

Hello
My Arcam Diva CD192 has been in the shop for a month or so, and I have been fooling around with cheap alternatives until I get my player back.
I have found, buying some external CD-ROM players with RCA outs, that some of them sound VERY good,has anyone else out there had the same experience?

I've seen a few notes on the USB Plextor top o the line combo DVD/CD unit and am planning on getting one at some point, but don't think it has analog outs.

My reasoning is that the unit is more isolated from the carriage of the PC so it isn't as prone to ancilliary noise.

I know AudiogoN member Viggen has tried this approach as well and was surprised how well a computer CD-ROM drive performed in his system.
