I know AudiogoN member Viggen has tried this approach as well and was surprised how well a computer CD-ROM drive performed in his system.

My Arcam Diva CD192 has been in the shop for a month or so, and I have been fooling around with cheap alternatives until I get my player back.
I have found, buying some external CD-ROM players with RCA outs, that some of them sound VERY good,has anyone else out there had the same experience?
