@dpac996 The 760A was just as revealing on my system but I have perfect hearing. It just didn't have the 4 kHz to 6 kHz emphasis, also known as presence. Simaudio over-boosted the 761, leading to a harsh or sibilant sound at times. They punched through Sonus Faber Serafino G2's and were matched with Octave, Mola Mola, and Bryston pre-amps. Regardless of the pre, they were always artificially lively.

Glad they worked for you. I found them inferior in design and performance to the 760A.

Hi all,

I just bought a Moon 761 amplifier to complement my 791 preamp, which I have had for half a year. (I was temporarily using the integrated 600i in bypass mode as power amp until now).

From your experience, can you tell me how many hours it takes for a 761 to burn in? The proverbial 400 hours?

@rkosak congrats on the 761 a very fine amp! I bought mine brand new almost a year ago now, and it took about 200 hours to stop changing in my system. During this time it was up and down going from nasal and constricted bass to wide open and good sounding. Break in is definitely required on these amps. As long as it’s plugged in and the main power switch is on, but if in standby, it comes on song in a day or so; if you shut off the main power switch for a few days, however , it will take longer to get back to its best performance.

Thanks!

To be honest, I don't remember how long the burn-in took with the 600i, but I know it was a few weeks. I can already hear the huge potential but it's clear that it's not settled yet and where it should be. Either way, I'm really looking forward to it! (Actually, I got myself a 50th birthday present with 761). I'll write a short review here after the device settles down.
