ESS DAC Chips

Folks,

Curious to find out if ALL ESS DAC chips convert DSD to PCM while playback OR is it only certain lower end ones? Tried Mr. GPT and it was indicated that all ESS chips convert DSD to PCM. But as we know that Mr. GPT's (version 3.5 free) information is at least 2 years old. So, if you have looked up the latest schematics and know better, can you please share?

Note that I am not trying to compare chips from different firms here. So sound quality is not what I am after.
