Entré Soltear II MC cartridge
I recently acquired this cartridge through Yahoo Japan and I’m looking for some first hand info about its design and specs. What I do know is that it has the same integrated headshell as the Entré EC-30 and both were designed by Yoshio Matsudaira, currently of MY Sonic Lab.
The most obvious distinction between the two - apart from a different coloured underside - is the cantilever material. The EC-30 has boron, while the Soltear II appears to have sapphire or perhaps diamond. It looks suspiciously similar to the one piece diamond stylus/cantilever assembly used by Sony in their XL-88D. I can hardly believe this to be the case, but does anyone know the true story about this cartridge?
