Bruce Thigpen's LFT-8b speakers were already amazing but I had to go for the stacked arrangement "The Poor Man's IRS V". I had already reconfigured one pair of LFT-8b's into a metal frames mounted to 50lb plates and then it occurred to me that a second ribbon and panel could be added without much effort. The result is not bad visually and of course the sound is truly great. One pair of bass drivers and two Dynaco stereo 400 series II amps are buried into the credenza. Anyone else setup like this?
Just compare the design and construction of the Eminent Technology magnetic-planar drivers and their metal support structures to the Magneplanars! I like and own Maggies (Tympani-4a’s), but anyone contemplating the purchase of MG1.7i’s (or even 3.7i’s) should endeavor to hear the ET LFT-8b’s before doing so.
You're are not using the bass modules right? Currently using old MMG in Mye stand with external Xover but have my eyes set in the LFT 8b for a while now Awesome work!
I am using the four bass modules. Two are in the credenza and two are below the panels. Thought of building two large cabinets custom fit to the credenza doors (two 8in per cabinet) but figured too much effort for a potentially compromised sound and also figured the cabinets below the panels add to stability.
