EMC 1 upgrade??

I have the emc-1 24-96 c d player and am quite happy with the sound of it. Could you please describe the sound when it is upgraded to 24-192 and the sound when you upgrade to the new caps,resistors, diodes,etc. For the cost of the upgrades do you feel it is money well spent over the stock 24-96 unit.

As Stewart mentioned (thanks Stewart for bringing it up by the way, I have been meaning to do so), there are some "black market" EMC-1 players finding their way into the US through one individual. He has since been banned from Audiogon, but it has come to my attention that he has started sending private emails to some folks here on AGon, offering brand new EMC-1's at about 50% of retail. If you receive one of these emails, then BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK, as the warranty will NOT be honored! As Stewart stated, serial numbers to those players that come through the US distributor are being recorded by Electrocomapniet. If a player is sent in for warranty work from the US and the serial number does not match any on the list, you are out of luck.

The new upgrade is now ready. The costs of the upgrade is $800 and for what you are getting that is a bargain. Here are some of the things that are included, new caps, resistors, diodes, and voltage regulator.

Talking about dealer's. There are some black market EMC 1's being sold in this country and there is nothing wrong with them except that realize you will have no warranty with the units. Electrocompaniet now knows the units involved although they tried to deface the serial numbers.

It would be wise to make appointments for the upgrades so that you are not without your CD player for an extended period of time.

I have had my upgraded player for several months and it is worth the price of admission.
