Elac power DAC Bash Amp

This one looks very interesting. Compact, 80 wpc, plus DSP to blend sub, etc. There isn't much talk about BASH. Apparently it gives you the benefits of a class AB output stage and the efficiency of a Class D amp, but minus the output filter that Class D needs. I have only seen BASH in subwoofers...why haven't we seen this technology in other small integrated amps currently dominated by Class D? Does Class D tend to sound dry, cold, and sterile because of the output filter? Thanks
